Siding with People and a Good Life
Helsinki Unit operates in the immediate vicinity of the city centre in Kallio,
in connection with Helsinki Deaconess Institute and HEO, a free
educational institute.
Helsinki Unit offers Degree Programmes in
Social Services, Nursing and Public Health Care. Additionally, it is
possible to graduate with two qualifying degrees: Nurse and Deaconess or
Bachelor of Social Services and Deacon / Church Youth Worker (Youth Leader)
At Helsinki Unit the education is aimed at youth, adults and immigrants.
At Helsinki Unit the education consists of basic degree awarding polytechnic
studies, vocational specialisation studies, master's degree polytechnic
studies, open polytechnic studies and continuing education for working
life.
Helsinki Unit provides the metropolitan area and Uusimaa with
experts in the fields of health care and social services, and in the
church sector.
Annually, some 1000 students study at Helsinki Unit;
the workforce comprises approximately 70 employees. |

experiences of otherness, cultural diversity and increasing
internationalism in its education and R & D. As the sole polytechnic unit
in Finland, Diak's Helsinki Unit provides immigrants general eligibility
for polytechnic studies by offering them preparatory studies. |
